“My interest in medicine started when I was in seventh grade and was further piqued through my sports-related injuries as well as my brother’s treatment for a severe burn at the age of 12,” says Dr. Tylman. Since becoming a physician, Dr. Tylman has been dedicated to making a difference for patients by maximizing their function and helping them enjoy life more. Dr. Tylman has extensive experience in internal medicine with an emphasis on preventive care, and he is highly focused on lifestyle medicine. “I really enjoy getting to know my patients, understanding their medical problems, and creating a treatment plan with them,” Dr. Tylman adds.

Paule Thomas understands the importance of time and its ability to help her patients heal. Dr. Ana Lopez has provided quality, compassionate care for patients in the U.S. and South America. Her warm manner and passion for helping seniors understand their health and achieve their most ambitious health goals are what endear her to her patients. "It's a privilege to take care of seniors," Dr. Lopez says. "I am reminded of my grandparents and that makes me happy." When she has some off time, Dr. Lopez enjoys reading, exercising and spending time with her husband, three daughters and (as she calls them) her "two old, cute dogs." Some day, Dr. Lopez would like to visit Machu Picchu in Peru.

Jose Cofino is a family nurse practitioner and a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Havana in Cuba and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Florida Atlantic University. He earned his master’s degree in nursing from Barry University in Miami. Prior to joining Chen, Jose was a nurse supervisor at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care where he identified physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs for terminally ill patients and their families. Jose is fluent in English and Spanish.

Since Dr. Jennifer Castilloux was young, she’s always been interested in science. “All the complexities of the human body and pathology piqued my interest,” Dr. Castilloux says. Specializing in internal medicine, Dr. Castilloux rounds in skilled nursing facilities in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. “I chose to work with seniors because I believe they deserve a physician that will advocate for their needs, especially if they are unable to do so for themselves. I take time to make sure my patients really understand what’s going on with them and teach them about prevention so they can regain control of their health and take better care of themselves,” Dr. Castilloux adds.

Dr. Liliana J. Espinosa Chang is an honors graduate of Facultad de Ciencias Medicas in Cienfuegos, Cuba. Dr. Espinosa Chang continued her post-graduate studies in family medicine, plastic surgery, and burns at Cienfuegos Hospital in Cienfuegos, Cuba, and later completed her Internal Medicine residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Jamaica, New York. Dr. Espinosa Chang enjoys educating her patients so they are empowered to make informed decisions. She chose to work with seniors because “I am not only providing important care to a deserving population, I am being rewarded with true gratitude”, she exclaimed.

Since Dr. Michael Georges was little, he always had an interest in helping others. He volunteered countless hours helping people through tough times and special medical needs. As a physician, he loves supporting the senior population through a range of medical concerns and chronic conditions, with an easygoing demeanor and good sense of humor. “I greatly enjoy connecting with patients and building a trusting relationship with them,” Dr. Georges says. “I want every interaction to be impactful.” When not providing care, researching or serving on committees, Dr. Georges has an active personal life. He likes to spend time with his family, hike, swim, play basketball, read and travel to different cultures.

Dr. Avianne Hospedales enjoys seeing her patients do well. Working specifically with seniors allows her to use her strengths to help patients age with dignity and enjoy the highest quality of life possible. “Prevention is incredibly powerful,” Dr. Hospedales says. “I like to teach my patients about ways to prevent illness and how to keep their conditions from worsening. Many seniors have multiple, chronic conditions, and it is rewarding to help them improve their quality of life".

Dr. Niral Patel has always wanted to pursue a career in healthcare and says his love for medicine and helping seniors work “hand-in-hand.” He enjoys seeing patients smile at the results of their efforts for better health. “I like to take a holistic approach and be an advocate for health,” Dr. Patel says. He enjoys establishing a close bond with patients through frequent visits. “My goal is to understand what a patient’s needs are and face hurdles together,” he says. Dr. Patel works to “find the right, individual approach” for each patient. In his free time, Dr. Patel loves staying active with various sports and activities like frisbee, tennis, ziplining, and skydiving. He also enjoys spending time with his family.

Dr. Sebastian Borja loves the opportunity to serve patients. “Being able to get to know them and develop a great doctor-patient relationship is one of my favorite parts of this profession,” he explains. He strives to learn his patients’ motivations, so he can better assist them in achieving their health goals. Dr. Borja especially enjoys caring for the senior population, explaining that they are “one of the most vulnerable populations in society that needs protection and understanding.” To keep up with the latest medical advancements, he listens to podcasts and reads new and upcoming articles. When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Borja enjoys running. He also likes singing and playing the ukulele.

Dr. Fatima Ahmed chose to pursue a career in medicine to help make a difference in people’s lives and contribute to “the wellness of society as a whole.” Her favorite part of her profession is developing relationships with patients. She explains that she tries to “provide the best possible care” to gain her patients’ trust. She likes listening to them and asking them questions to “better understand their experiences and expectations.” She also loves the endless learning opportunities. “Medicine is an ever-evolving field and offers great potential for self-growth and acquisition of knowledge,” she explains. Dr. Ahmed enjoys reading, cooking, and enjoying time with family in her down time. She also collects coins and stamps.

She explains, “I strive to make a difference in my patients’ lives by focusing on holistic, patient-centered care. This means not only addressing their immediate medical needs but also helping them understand and take control of their health.” She strives to make her patients “feel supported, respected, and cared for.” Fernande Simeon loves spending her free time outdoors. She especially enjoys gardening and watching sports.

Dr. Rosette “Rose” Charles is dedicated to “addressing healthcare inequities” and loves “making patients feel cared for.” She elaborates, “I think that many patients, particularly in underserved communities, have lost faith and trust in the medical community […] When a patient knows that I care and that their doctor sees things through, they feel safe and open up.” She actively listens to patients’ concerns and enjoys learning about their lives. “It is important for me to see each patient as a unique individual with needs that go beyond what is addressed during clinic visits,” she says. Dr. Rose loves cooking and spending time in nature in her free time. She is also an avid reader and enjoys visiting Dominica, where she was born.
